Harry's hints P45 Changes

The form P45 used to record details of employees leaving your employment is changing. At present it is still possible to use pre-printed multi-part P45 forms. Although these forms have been withdrawn (you will not be able to order more copies), they can still be used up to 5th April 2009. From that date employers with 50 employees or more MUST send P45's to HMRC online. Although employers with fewer than 50 employees have until April 2011 to file P45 details online it will not be possible to use pre-printed forms and unless you have a payroll system which allows online filing, you will have to use HMRC's PAYE online service to provide details of your leavers.
Harry's hint:
Make sure that you either have payroll software which is compliant with HMRC's PAYE online system or consider outsourcing your payroll.
