Phishing Emails and the HMRC – Again!

Previously reported, we have alerted you to suspicious emails which look like they have been sent from the HMRC, these are again being sent.

These emails look genuine, and even appear to have come from a genuine HMRC email address. Please be aware that HMRC DO NOT send e-mails that notify customers of eligibility to a repayment or request personal information or payment.

Should you receive this email, please submit a detailed report direct to the HMRC (security.custcon@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk), and if you have already disclosed credit/debit card information you should immediately report the matter to your bank/card issuer.

E-mails such as this one are issued in huge numbers and sent indiscriminately, which is why we recommend the use of up to date spam filters and other online protection. HMRC, as well as Eagle Consulting take online security very seriously and work hard to identify and disrupt these attacks in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
